I was watching a junior high football game one fall afternoon and
witnessed a tiny little mistake. An oversight made by a
player completely focused on his
role in the game. It all
started when the
quarterback stepped back and threw the ball toward a running back.
As the ball left the quarterback's hand it was tipped by a defender.
This slight contact sent the ball off it's intended path.
Several players jockied to get the ball.
An opposing guard ended up with the live ball. This valiant
and determined player tucked the ball under his arm. put his head down,
and ran for all he was worth toward the end zone. He ran as
fast
as he could deflecting other players as he went.
Even though he wasn't all that fast he was so strong he literally
drug his attackers behind him. He drug those
attempting to tackle him until they could hold on no
longer. Finally three other players brought him
down.
When the guard realized who tackled him he asked, What
are you guys doing? I was headed for a sure touch down!"

fellow players exclaimed in not too friendly terms, "you were headed
for the wrong end zone, you lumox!"
